After months of waiting for a decent job, I decided if I couldn't get one by late 2012, I would resort to teaching at my alumnus, Corpus Christi since it is also one of my possible work plans. But after Lola's 5th death anniversary ... It all started.
Yes ... It was a phone call from BDO HR saying they had a vacancy but in the Insurance department, a subsidiary of BDO. I had tried sending my resume online, be in line for a job fare, interviews & online testings. It was after the 7th month of my application for BDO that I got an opportunity to work. I thought there was no more hope since months have passed by & I was was waiting for another opportunity in another bank.
October was the interview day, I was uneasy even though I went through a lot of interviews but who knows who will interview you & what will they ask. We were around 4 so the chances are still low, I guess these people before me are more experienced but still I had to give my rookie's shot. Luckily the interview was not as torturous as it seems & it went on smoothly like conversations with an aunt.
I was also interviewed if ever I was open for a contractual job & I took a short interview.
I prayed that if ever this job was for me then thank you Lord. If not maybe I was destined for something else. After several weeks, the HR called up saying I have requirements to fill that needs to be forwarded to the HR. It was a pre-hiring disclosure. I was not convinced yet that it would be a yes but still why the word PRE-HIRING. Another week passed in an afternoon inside the mall, HR called and said of a scheduled medical check up. Am I close to the hiring? Why MEDICAL CHECK UP. I saw my other partner in the email list so we got to talk to each other. After another week, the real deal came because of the list of requirements in the email. I only had two weeks to complete this before my training in Manila. I was really going to be hired. I was getting my schedule & allowance for a 3 day training.
Moving forward, I was in the airplane to Manila. I was back but still the maze. Luckily my best bud accompanied me to the condotel. I met other rookies in the condotel, others had already started while some will start the next day. That night, I mingled with my floor mates talking about the requirements and all. We were ready for Day 1: HR Orientation.
With plenty of other rookies behind on the training center, we got to learn the basics & ways of BDO. The day ended but because of the traffic we arrived late. Getting ready for another / separation day because we had different assignments, others were tellers while some are inspectors. Day 2: Head Office.
Briefing + Sessions with different teachers. The interesting part was the sudden dance training for my bosses for their Christmas party. I was glad to share my talent to them. Day 3: Head Office, it was my last day. The people are very accommodating glad they are patient with a rookie who has a load more to learn. Actually I was in a state of information overload with all the system learning & the work flow in general. That night, It was my last day at the condotel and I would be the first one to be evicted in the "PBB" house. I decided to treat my sudden family with a sweet goodbye.
It was going to be reality once I start in my assignment in CDO. Again flying back home & reporting directly to my assigned branch. First two days was adjustments because of the online exams and transfer of role from my mentor. I was in a state of information overload + giving up + realizations that maybe this was not for me but I continued. Because of many factors I am now loving my job, with the people you would want to talk to & the blessings that have poured for this job I am thankful Lord for all these. I still have much to learn but everyday is a blessing. As 2013 has just started, I will work hard & do my best for everything connected to my outputs. Aja!
